Main Areas of Practice
Rikita Karakawa has been involved in wide variety of domestic and international cases, including those of restructuring, intellectual property, competition law and corporate law. He also has ample experience in dispute resolution such as negotiation and litigation.
With regard to restructuring, Karakawa has been engaged in cases of both in-court procedure and out-of-court private rehabilitation, representing industry-leading companies as well as middle-sized enterprises as clients, which gave him abundant experience on this area. Also, as for intellectual property, Karakawa has been representing domestic and international clients in patent infringement litigations as well as patent invalidation trial. Other than patent law, he also advises clients on copyright and trademark laws on a daily basis.
Recently, Karakawa has been focusing on competition laws. Through the secondment to international construction machinery manufacturer and law firms abroad, he has been involved in competition law cases such as international merger filing as well as international cartel investigation and class action lawsuits.
