Hirofumi Kato's activities include providing legal advices on corporate generals, guidance for shareholder meetings, providing legal opinions on industry laws, and drafting contracts such as licenses and providing legal advice on legal issues arising in the area of corporate activities of distributors, finance and IT related businesses.

Mr. Kato has much experience in litigation, preservation and enforcement procedures and provides comprehensive advice with regard to court procedures. He handles a wide range of lawsuits such as patent suits, and class action suits. Litigation is one of the areas in which Mr. Kato wishes to be specialized.

  • Insolvency, Turnaround and M&A

Mr. Kato has been handling civil rehabilitation procedure petitions, bankruptcy petitions, and insolvency procedure cases such as bankruptcy administration. He also represented corporate sponsors and creditors in corporate reorganization procedures and civil rehabilitation procedures. Some major cases include: Nitto Kougyou Group, Ryokuei Group and Tone Co., Ltd. (deputy petitioner for civil rehabilitation procedure) and Tokyo General Corporation (deputy trustee in bankruptcy).

As part of business restructuring, he has handled such matters as merger, corporate divisions, and business sales as well as due diligence on behalf of business sponsors.

  • Support to Entrepreneurs

Mr. Kato assists entrepreneurs by providing legal consultation on incorporation and on business operation generals as specialist advisor at Dream Gate (Venture Enterprise Center, sponsored by METI). He would like to continue supporting entrepreneurs in the future.
