On July 28, 2022, the Japan Patent Office (JPO) published the statistics for IP related applications filed in Japan in 2022, as of the end of May.

According to the published statistics, the number of domestic applications filed in Japan in January to May 2022 slightly decreased in comparison with the same period in 2021, while the number of international applications filed in Japan in the same period increased, as below.
