Award Ceremony held for Patent Contest and Design Patent Contest

The JPO has been running an intellectual property awareness-raising campaign for students, with an emphasis on university and high school students. As part of the campaign, the JPO has held a Patent Contest and a Design Patent Contest annually in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), the Japan Patent Attorneys Association (JPAA), and the National Center for Industrial Property Information and Training (INPIT). An award ceremony for this year’s contest was held on March 13, 2023.
In the contest, students submit their own inventions or designs, from which the best in each category are chosen for an award. If a student’s invention or design is selected for an award, they will have the experience of filing a patent or design patent application with the JPO for their invention, with the help of a patent attorney.
