JPO published the Annual Report 2024
The JPO published the Annual Report 2024 in July this year. The key points are as follows:
- The number of patent applications filed in 2023 was 300,133, with an increase by 3.6% over that in 2022.
- The number of patent applications filed by applicants residing in the United States and Europe was declining until 2020, however, started to increase in 2021 and remained at a high level in 2023.
- In FY2023, both the average FA (First Action) pendency and the total pendency from the filing to registration were shortened, achieving 9.4 months and 13.8 months, respectively.
